USS Mount Katmai AE-16
1970
1973
Sent as "Mount Katmai off the coast of View Nam in the early 70's."
This photo could not have been taken in the early 70's because there is no copter pad and the gun tubs are still visable on the stern.  Any Info?

In her last years this shoulder patch appeared.  Sent in by Terry Andreason he wrote:
I don't know when the ship started using thispatch or who designed it, but we used it for the last few years prior to decommissioning.

Do any of you have any additional info on the patch?

I remember seeing a placque in the Captains Cabin that had the canon all on it...other than that I did not see this patch in the late '50's.

And, speaking of which - we received the following.....
This photo of the placque was sent in by Charles Engen.  His father, Capt. Donald Engen was awarded this when he left the ship.

This is not the placque I saw in the Captains Cabin in the late '50's.  It's prettier!
