U.S.S. Mount Katmai - AE-16 - 1956 - 1958
In the 40's and 50's this is what we saw of the U.S.S. Arizona. No memorial over her.
The ferry from N.A.S. Ford Island to Pearl. Note the cars guys. Can you find the Packard?
Remember Pink? This Ford was rented to Grinstead, a friend of Don "Archie" Arseneau - Photo taken about 5 miles outside of Pearl.
The Captains Gig. Any of you get to ride in it?
Two shots of her sitting in dry dock. This was when the girdle was put on? Guns removed?
This is the 5" that used to be on the fantail. IC3 Jim Loveless hangs on to it.
A street in Hong Kong - mid 50's. Where is everyone? Oh! In the bars - not on the street!

The plaque to the left was found on e-bay. The owner, Tom Cosso, said he bought it at an estate sale. So, we have no date or other info about it. If the brass was polished - it would be a dead ringer for the one I saw on Captain Beyer's wardroom wall during my stay 1958-1959.
Note From Don "Archie" Arseneau
Hi Phil,
The Ford was a rental. He and I took a tour of the Island.
We both ended up in the brig that night. That's another story. No disciplinary. I was too young to rent a car and Grinstead didn't have a license. I let him drive and when he made a turn he hit a mail box and it didn't take long for the SP's to find us. It all turned out ok for us.

Now, that's more like it! The real Downtown of Hong Kong - mid 50's.
